چکیده

Methods: A single center study, we reviewed 890 saudi male patients who underwent cardiac catheterization with or without coronary artery intervention between 2008 and 2013. The data was retrieved retrospectively from their health informatics system. The study cohort was dichotomized into two groups; group (A) 35 years and younger, and group (B) 45 years and younger. The conventional cardiovascular risk factors were compared between groups.

Using the risk of restenosis as a guide to triaging patients between surgical and percutaneous coronary revascularization.

BACKGROUND Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) and percutaneous coronary revascularization (PCI) are strategies for treating coronary disease. Because the principal limitation of PCI is restenosis, CABG might be favored for those at high risk for restenosis. Using a clinical risk score for predicting restenosis, we examined whether patients with higher risks for restenosis were preferentially r...

Differences in per capita rates of revascularization and in choice of revascularization procedure for eleven states

BACKGROUND A few studies have investigated differences in elective procedure rates across small and medium sized referral regions. The purposes of this study are to investigate differences in revascularizations across 11 entire states and to investigate differences in choice of revascularization procedure (percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) vs. coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery)...

Revascularization in Patients With Multivessel Coronary Artery Disease and Severe Left Ventricular Systolic Dysfunction: Everolimus-Eluting Stents Versus Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery.

BACKGROUND Guidelines recommend coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG) over percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for multivessel disease and severe left ventricular systolic dysfunction. However, CABG has not been compared with PCI in such patients in randomized trials. METHODS AND RESULTS Patients with multivessel disease and severe left ventricular systolic dysfunction (ejection fr...

Comparison between Revascularization and Optimal Medical Therapy in Patients with Stable Angina Pectoris

Background and Purpose: Regarding usefulness of revascularization versus optimal medical therapy in patients with stable angina pectoris, data are challenging. The aim of this 12-month follow-up study was to compare the survival benefit associated with revascularization versus optimal medical therapy on the patients with stable angina pectoris. Materials and Methods: A prospective clinical s...

Determinants of percutaneous coronary intervention vs coronary artery bypass grafting: an interprovincial comparison.

BACKGROUND Marked variation exists concerning the utilization of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). The objective of this study was to examine differences in predictors of mode of revascularization across 3 provincial jurisdictions. METHODS All patients who underwent PCI and isolated CABG in British Columbia, Alberta, and Nova Scotia between 1...
